Kogi State is very unique for numerous reasons. A prominent one being the great cultural diversity weaved deep into her history, and the tales of her birth from old Kwara and Benue State in 1991. Kogi State is centrally located in Nigeria, connecting the Federal Capital Territory with the western and eastern parts of Nigeria. She shares boundaries with a total of 9 States and is naturally a transit hub for business to other landlocked States.
Despite the fact that the State is abundantly blessed with both human and natural resources, and has witnessed diverse styles of governance in its 31 years of existence, the State has not experienced evident development. This jinx however, was broken with the emergence of His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello.
The quest for a rapid socio-economic development made Governor Yahaya Bello birth a new and unique Administration he called ”The New Direction”. Overlooking tribal or religious differences, he looked into the problems of the State by carrying out thorough research on what adversely affected each Local Government per thematic.
