Naira Redesign Victory: Elated Nigerians hail Yahaya Bello and others as ‘Heroes of the Republic’ online as CBN finally recapitulates and order banks to transact in all currencies. It will be recalled that the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Governors Yahaya Bello, Ahmad El Rufai and Bello Matawalle of Kogi, Kaduna and Zamfara States respectively in a suit they instituted against the federal government disagreeing with the mode of implementation of the Naira redesign policy by the CBN.
The governors and 16 others of their colleagues across party lines who later joined the suit argued that the way the CBN rolled out the policy, which they do not oppose, will work unimaginable hardship on the Nigerian citizenry, as later proved to be the case.
