Bola Ahmed Tinubu, A Life of Service.!

If you showed me a man without failings, then you just pointed me in the direction of an angel.

But when acknowledgement of imperfections make an individual rise above the impiety of the mundane, we need to recognise that such a soul no longer operates on the horizontal of the ordinary.

For the rarity of such personalities on this plane, where life robs people of opportunities by throwing just anything their way, we often interpret the determination and tenacity of purpose displayed by those with the resolve to shun life’s robbing gifts as excessive ambition, greed and arrogance. We judge them for not allowing their potential become deteriorated by immediate gains and satisfaction.

Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, like others in ‘limited-edition’ individuals driven by the clarity of their vision, turns eyeless to sneers, and draws strength from his resolve to make a difference in any situation requiring sagacity and transformational leadership. As a pupil of life who has had a taste of lack, disappointments and betrayals, he has learnt that not taking eyes off the ball is a proven tactic for accomplishment.

Guided by this tenet, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu easily soldiers through the storm of distractions, ignores cynicism and mitigates envy on his way to glory. Even though his achievements have made him…

Disbursement of funds to Micro and Small Business Owners in Kogi State

Kogi State Government has begun disbursement of funds to the Micro and Small business owners in the State in order to boost entrepreneurial development across the state.

The Micro Small Business Owners begin the New Year with alerts from the Kogi State Government as KG-CARES, Result Area 3 commences disbursement to beneficiaries; a project been implemented by Kogi Enterprise Development Agency.

The fund is the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KG-CARES) targeting businesses that were adversely affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA through His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello had promised to make Kogi State a business hub through its various intervention programs, one of the thematic areas of his administration.

The funds are meant to facilitate the recovery of MSEs and enhance the capacities of small businesses in the operational sector, not leaving behind those who took loans from financial institutions and for ICT enhancement. DLI 3.1 is a Credit Grant, DLI 3.2 is an Operational Grant while DLI 3.3 is an ICT Enhancement Grant.

Managing Director/CEO KEDA, Hajia Rekiya Onaivo Sanni expressed gratitude to the Governor for keeping to his promises and putting smiles on Kogites’ faces even as the new year begins.

She said the Governor has shown “unparalleled commitment” to business growth and wealth creation in the State.

“The Governor put us on our toes and gave us a marching order to ensure business owners get the funds in the first week of January. She went futher to explain that “as aatter of fact, this is a grant and not loan given to beneficiaries and they are not expected to pay back.

“My staff went to work to deliver on the mandate of His Excellency because we know and understand his passion for business growth in the state. Let me reiterate the fact that KEDA is desirous in monitoring the application of the funds to ensure they are used for the purposes they are meant for”.

She added that this is just an iceberg of supports queued by the New Direction Government to Kogi Business Communities.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Eniola Jethro told reporters that he received a huge sum of money to expand his business, thanking the State Government for making the year prosperous from the beginning.

He said: “I woke up to alert from the KG-CARES this morning and I was wondering if it was a dream. But it is a reality. While we were celebrating during the Christmas and New Year, our Government was busy working to put smiles on our faces. Thank you Yahaya Bello”, he said.

Another beneficiary who simply introduced herself as Oyiza said she will deploy the funds to expanding her dry cleaning services.

“I was already gathering money for my rent, but now, I can pay the rent and still have enough to buy a few things I need to improve my business. This Governor has made us so happy this year already”, she said.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria Deputy Coordinator for Kogi West, Comrade Eniola Olayemi hailed the Kogi Enterprise Development Agency for the “sterling transparency in selecting beneficiaries”, saying the nation will be better if people with genuine needs and business plans are treated the manner Kogi State is currently doing.

“With the mechanism KEDA set up in line with the Governor’s principle of equity and transparency, it was so seamless and everyone is satisfied”, he said.

A gold-plated legacy

The President did not only storm the state in style, he also commissioned Bello’s amazing projects and recognised the greatness imbued in the 47-year- old governor. There is no doubt that no sector in Kogi State has received as much attention as the health sector since Governor Bello came to power in 2016.

Aside from the completed state-of-the-art Medical Diagnostic Centre in the State that will arguably become the best in the country, lots of other beneficial health programmes have been going on, one of which is the Healthcare Plus concept that has been applauded as one of the best intervention scheme across the Federation.

Buhari’s visit to Kogi State

By HAFSAT IBRAHIM

INDEED, there is time for everything in life. There is a time to invest and a time to pack, a time to sow and a time to reap. There is a time to work hard in hope and a time to be appreciated and commended. A lot has been said and written about Governor Yahaya Bello’s remarkable relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari and the doors it has opened for the former in his bid to transform Kogi state.

The crowning glory of his stewardship therefore must be the fact that on December 29, 2022, the President did not only storm the state in style, he also commissioned Bello’s amazing projects and recognised the greatness imbued in the 47-year- old governor.

Indeed, Gov Bello has transformed Kogi State in all sectors, ranging from health, education and security. Upon becoming the governor, he made a lot of promises and has fulfilled about 80% of them.

Some time in May 2022, myself and a couple of colleagues visited the state to see for ourselves the amazing work of the governor. The Reference Hospital was one of the projects we inspected. It is not only huge, it is impressive in terms of quality of work done and the entire edifice of the building.

The hospital, among other projects which were near completion as at then, is now completed and was finally commissioned on December 29 by President Muhammadu Buhari. The Reference Hospital is adjudged to be the first of its kind in Nigeria with modern medical facilities and of international standard.

Among other landmark projects commissioned by President Buhari were the new Palace of Ohinoyi of Ebira Land in Okene and the fly-over Bridge at Ganaja Junction, Lokoja. The importance of the fly-over project cannot be overemphasized as it will tackle traffic congestion and ease the movement of road users and residents who use the township road to access other parts of the city like Phase II, Barracks and the road that leads to Okene, Obajana and Kabba.

President Buhari also commissioned the Okene-Agasa-Ukpgoro road and other township roads in Okene, together with ambulances, special security vehicles, the GYB Model Science Secondary School Adankolo in Lokoja, andMuhammadu Buhari Civic Centre.

President Buhari, in his remark, commended the governor for delivering all his electioneering campaign promises to Kogites. He also urged the good people of the state to cooperate and support the governor for him to deliver more dividends of democracy to them. While commissioning the legacy project implemented by the Kogi State Government, President Buhari said Gov. Bello had performed creditably in his two terms as governor of the state.

He also commended the governor for rising up to the occasion in many sectors, especially security. ”We are proud of him and I encourage the people of Kogi State to continue to support him and his team as they are working hard to ensure peace, security and development in the state. I am glad that we have an impressive array of legacy projects through your own state government as proof of our stewardship of Kogi. The APC Administration has indelible footprints in Kogi,” he said.

Speaking on the determination of his administration to position Kogi as an industrial hub as well as a solid mineral power base, the president explained how the Federal Government achieved the resolution of all legal entanglements that had bogged down the progress of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex. According to him, the project stands to benefit the people of the state immensely as it would generate $1.6 billion annually and provide 500,000 estimated jobs for Nigerian youths.

“No other single project holds the key to unlocking this vast potential as much as the Ajaokuta Steel Complex which we inherited as a long moribund complex strangulating under a tangle of local and international commercial disputes. I am glad to report that as we begin to round off in office, we can genuinely say that our administration has rescued Ajaokuta from all legal disabilities. It is now ready for concessioning to a private investor with the right profiles to put it to work for Nigeria in general and Kogi in particular.

”The process has cost this Federal Government over 400 million dollars so far, but I consider it money well spent as we move closer to achieving our objective of transforming Kogi State into Nigeria’s iron and steel powerhouse,” he said.

“The benefits of getting Ajaokuta Steel Complex working again are numerous. It would provide over 500,000 estimated jobs and more than $1.6 billion in annual income to the Nigerian economy. Nigerians can rest assured that I remain committed to seeing this process to a logical conclusion before the end of my tenure in Office.”

These, the Governor said, included the Itakpe – Warri Rail Line which he noted, had brought relief to travellers and business owners in the state.

Governor Bello informed President Buhari that the projects inaugurated were in response to his commitment to serve, stating that since his swearing – in on 27th January, 2016, his administration constituted a multi-sectoral committee that went round the nooks and crannies of the State, identifying the needs of the people.
