2023 Presidency: Yahaya Bello’s Declaration Timely

As the 2023 general election draws closer, Dr Abdullahi Sanni Ozomata, a stakeholder in the All Progressive Congress (APC), has described the public declaration by Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello as timely and strategic for the success of his ambition.

Dr. Ozomata, who stated this on Saturday while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, described Governor Bello as the hope of a new and prosperous Nigeria.

Ozomata, who is also an APC aspirant seeking to represent Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency, said Nigerians deserve a President like Governor Bello based on his developmental strides in the State.

Ozomata noted that Governor Bello is not just a young leader with experience but dynamic, straight forward and a goal-getter which according to him are the qualities the next Nigerian President must possess.

He pointed out that Kogi State is regarded as the safest in Nigeria despite sharing boundaries with about 10 states is due to the security architecture put in place by the Governor.

The House of Representatives Aspirant stated that all sectors of the State have been transformed with every senatorial district benefitting from the legacy projects of the Governor.

Ozomata expressed hope and belief that Governor Bello will transform Nigeria if given the mandate to serve by replicating his feat at the State level.

“Nigerians have always desired to be led by youths especially the seat of the President which Governor Bello perfectly fit.

“Governor Bello has demonstrated capacity through the inclusion of productive youths and women in his government which makes him stand out and also endeared him to many,” he said.

Also speaking the Chairman, Central Working Committee of Dr. Abdullahi Sanni Ozomata Campaign Team, Alhaji Abdulrahman Aziz Obini commended Governor Bello for yielding to the call of Nigerians to contest for the seat of the President.

Alhaji Abdulrahman also said there is no better time than now, describing the Governor as the hope of a new and prosperous Nigeria.

He expressed optimism that Governor Bello will transform the country within the shortest possible time if Nigerians give him their support.

Gov Bello’s Presidential Declaration Is Hope Nigerians Crave For

A political support group, ‘Got Your Back Nigeria’, has said the presidential declaration of Governor Yahaya Bello which is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2022, was the hope Nigerians have been craving for.

The national co-ordinator of the group, Prof. Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr, in a press statement made available to journalists on Friday, said 30 years ago when it was a Muslim-Muslim ticket, zoning was not the issue nor was power sharing the debate.

Nwaokobia Jnr said it was a campaign popular in every respect and targeted at banishing hunger and making Nigeria great in 1993, describing the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 election, the late MKO Abiola as an unusual person, a candidate like no other and a man of means beatified by his love, passion, benevolence and commitment to the common good.

He said it was hope epitomised by the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, adding that Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, currently represents same spirit, hence his a presidential aspiration for the 2023 general election.

“30 years after, the stage is set and the benevolent spirits are at work yet again. On our hands is a 46-year-old uncommon phenomenon. He says no to zoning, power sharing and ethnic cum regional politics. He says that Nigeria deserves more than the ‘turn by turn’ normative. That we must like the one that came 3 decades earlier ‘bid farewell to hunger and poverty’. He says that the HOPE that faltered in June 12 is yet alive and realisable. And like MKO he is better known by the initials GYB.

“In a matter of hours the Eagle Square in Abuja shall host a Declaration of Interest to run for the High office of President in a manner never before seen. Governor Yahaya Bello GYB shall be telling Nigerians at home, those in the diaspora and the entire human pilgrimage about the HOPE that must be made REAL. He is declaring his unalterable commitment and interest in the 2023 Presidential election. He wants to be the President of Nigeria come 2023, and he means business.

“Hope 2023 is a movement of Nigerians Young and Old, it boasts of great thinkers and ideologues, women and men of immense passion and faith in Nigeria, and has the DG of the HOPE 93 MKO campaign, Senator Jonathan Zwingina as one of the Leaders, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, the late MKO Abiola’s daughter as one of the leaders, and many reputable statesmen and women as the drivers. It is a New Dawn of great HOPE before us, this time anchored by the phenomenal GYB.

“With GYB we shall be building a nation beyond politics. We shall banish hunger and poverty. We shall cremate the politics of creed and clan, and water those of competency and capacity. With GYB it will be a new day of brotherhood and inclusiveness centred on equity, fairness and justice. With GYB government shall raise the margins beyond region and religion, and commit completely to the common good. And with GYB it will never ever again be business as usual. Indeed it will be governance and business unusual.

“HOPE 2023 is a broad movement of Nigerians committed to repositioning our dear Country for greatness and GYB is the face of the NEW DEAL”.

“The 2nd of April, 2022 is the moment, the day is here, the Train has left the station enroute the Rock called Aso, and the HOPE of and for a NEW, PROSPEROUS AND GLORIOUS NIGERIA is on course, Countrymen and women, together with GYB it will be A NEW DAY and A NEW DAWN for all. Hope Beckons,” Prof. Nwaokobia Jnr stated.

Already, Bello has received several endorsements from across the geopolitical zones, especially youths and women across the country, urging him to run. However, the young Governor had insisted that he will declare his intention to run for the presidency in the forthcoming 2023 election once the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds it national convention.

I will surely answer them immediately after our convention as the case may be,” Bello told newsmen in Lokoja two months ago.

Aside age advantage, being the youngest Governor in Nigeria, Bello has received accolades for enhancing security in Kogi, women and youth inclusion in governance, breaking walls of ethnicity and his firm belief in unity.

In an interview session with Reuben Abati on Arise television, Femi Fani Kayode was asked who his best presidential candidate for the APC is. He answered that question saying that he thinks Yahaya Bello is the best candidate.

He said, “I believe the best candidate for the party and for the country is Yahaya Bello, I have said it before and I stand by it, At the end of the day we will go to the field and when we get to the field the primaries would now determine the rest”.

Fani Kayode was asked why he thinks Yahaya Bello Is the best candidate for Presidency, he answered saying that “I have worked closely with him, I trust him and I believe he loves this country, he is extremely tough, he is decisive, he is young, he is dynamic and his word is his bond, a quality that is rare in Nigerian politics, once he says A it is A and he is forthright about it. Yahaya Bello is loyal to his own, he is loyal to president Muhammadu Buhari and he is also loyal to the party, for me loyalty is everything”.

“A lot of people don’t know that Yahaya Bello is inspiring because they have not gotten the opportunity to work closely with him.

Yahaya Bello has encouraged me and he has also made me believe in this country again, he also made me realise that there is still hope for all of us. There is nobody in PDP or Wike people’s party that can stand a chance of defeating this young, dynamic and strong Nigerian”.

Sani commends Yahaya Bello on infrastructure development, oil producing state status

Ahmed Sani,  the Group Managing Director of Amco Group of Companies has said progress on infrastructure development in Kogi deserves commendation.

Sani, a business tycoon in the aviation, tourism, engineering and real estate industry noted that there are feasible progress on key infrastructure in Kogi, adding that the State Governor made progress on road, hospitals, educational institutions among others.

According to him, the current government in the state equally deserves 100 per cent in security, adding that the administration reversed the worsened state of insecurity in the state.

He also noted that progress on internally generated revenue as well as attainment of oil producing state status remained a plus to the state.

“I think Yaya Bello has done well, in the area of security. You may not understand how worst the issue of insecurity has been in Kogi. It became very difficult for some of us and we can’t even go to our home town. A lot of times, the security details required to go home is enough headache but those things have changed.

“I think Kogi is one of the safest states in the country. Unfortunately, this is one area that a lot of governors could not get right, even the government at the centre. Security is paramount. People should be able to move and do business freely,” Sani, who hails from the Ankpa area of the state said.

According to him, the bridge being constructed at Ganaja junction is a major one.

Sani insisted that Kogi has no business being a poor state given the level of natural resources that in the state, stressing that the state a lot of solid mineral resources.

“While we have seen a level of exploration in Obajana by Dangote and a few ceramic companies, the resources have been grossly untapped and those being tapped do not contribute so much to the internally generated revenue of the state.

“Previously, the IGR of Kogi was about N500 million monthly. Reports show that, N17.5 billion was generated in 2020 , that is about N1.3 billion monthly. Without being biased, I think we need to commend the current government in that regard.

“There is a lot that can happen in Kogi with the level of the natural resources we have. The Ajaokuta steel complex is practically dead. The coal is not explored and different other resources. Kogi is very strategic. Anybody coming from south east – South west , south – South or coming from the other region into these places can not avoid Kogi.

“Kogi is a focal point into the federal Capital Territory. Kogi stands a better chance to be a commercial hub of Nigeria and if there’s any state closer to the federal capital, I think Kogi,” Sani stated.

He added that remained elating that the current administration in the got Kogi and oil producing state status.

“We must commend Yahaya Bello for this achievement. I think the governor is a goal-getter. Whatever he is determined to do he will achieve it. For a long time, Kogi, Anambra and Enugu have been on loggerhead of the oil deposit in Kogi. We have seen past governors, who tried to make moves to claimed this until it was recently achieved by Yahaya Bello. This declaration is only a testament to the level of natural resources in Kogi.

“This will improve the revenue of the state, provide job opportunities, increase knowledge gap in the state, especially in the oil and gas sector and also make the state a destination of foreign direct investment. History would remember Bello for this,” Sani said.
