Governor Yahaya Bello Lifts Medical Personnel in Kogi with 100% Hazard Allowance Increase; Receives Accolades from PAAU Pioneer Medical Students Now Doctors

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, has granted a substantial boost to the healthcare sector by approving a 100% hazard allowance for medical doctors and other health workers in the state, effective immediately. The decision was announced during a courtesy visit by the pioneer medical students of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, and the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association, Kogi State, who expressed their gratitude at the government house in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Governor Bello, who inherited accreditation challenges faced by the pioneer set of medical students, took swift action upon assuming office, placing the affected students on scholarship in various tertiary institutions across the country, allowing them to continue their MBBS program. The students, accompanied by their parents and the university’s management, expressed gratitude to Governor Bello for his support.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Kogi State Chapter, Dr. Olusola Baoku, commended Governor Bello for his efforts in the state’s health sector, acknowledging Kogi as one of the seven states in the federation addressing hazard allowance for medical doctors by 50% payment. Governor Bello affirmed the government’s dedication to providing a conducive environment for healthcare professionals and announced the approval of a 100% hazard allowance for medical doctors and health workers in the state with immediate effect.

The Kogi State governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, also assured continued improvements across all economic sectors, particularly in healthcare delivery, affirming that the state is committed to training medical professionals within and outside the state to bridge the manpower gap.

Today is a bright, joyful and happy day.

The meshing of two set of dreams. The collective dream of a people whose decades of yearnings, hope and desire for a university has attained unimagined fulfilment.

The personal dream of a leader, The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON in with a profound sense of history, mission, justice and equity through the establishment of a third university, has come to certitude and reality.

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, has in fulfilling his promise to establish this university, etched his name, indelibly, on the wall of history and the minds of a grateful people of Okunland.

Just looking at the picaresque splendour of this environment and the bright, smiling and shining faces of over nine hundred students whose dreams for an opportunity for University education has come to fulfilment and the importance of the marvelous exploit of Governor Yahaya Bello will be manifest.

I congratulate the Governor for proving himself a man of honour, purpose and destiny.

I congratulate the people of Okun land, who’s first alphabet of thought action and industry, is education.

Just consider it deeply: how can a people, who in land mass population density, has the largest number of University professors in the whole of Nigeria not have a university on its soil?

I congratulate His Royal Highness, the Obaro if Kabba and other Obas in the Okun Traditional Council for the blessing of this University during their reign.

I congratulate Kogi State, with the gift of a third and anticipatedly vibrant University, two in the tenure of its present and outgoing Governor.

I congratulate members of my Implementation/provisional Council for their being chosen as the instrument of fulfilling this dream.

In just about six months from inauguration in June to conclusion, the university has been delivered to the Governor, who made the inspired choice of Seventeen of the finest and most ingenious Professors in Kogi State with, six top notch technocrats of government, with an incredible sense of commitment, loyalty and patriotism to the State.

I am eternally grateful to Governor Yahaya Bello, not only for making me the Chairman of the establishment Committee, but by giving us unfettered freedom to do the work.

I must show deep appreciation to my friend, the former Executive Secretary ofu NUC, Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, mni, mfr, FNAL, for his support in granting recognition for the recognition in the fastest speed ever in the history of establishing universities in this country.

He must be glad that in less than six months, the university has come to be and come to stay.

I congratulate the members of the university Management, which my Committee meticulously appointed, and which Governor Yahaya Bello promptly approved, under the digital VC, Prof K.I. T. Eniola who started galloping before hitting the ground.

I congratulate the State government education agent, Hon. Wemi Jones for his fluent and competent handling of the process.

I nudge and urge the people of Okun in particular, and of Kogi State in general to join hands in making this seed of a university become in no time, a great, enviable Baobab tree among the ranks of world universities.

Your Excellency, here is our arrival. What a glorious way of ending a tenure with enduring immortal memory!! Congratulations!!!

Students of the Oke-Bukun community in Kabba Bunu LGA trooped out to express their appreciation to GYB

Earlier this morning, the students of this beautifully and well-equipped Secondary School in Oke-Bukun community in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State trooped out with heartfelt gratitude to express their appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello.

The governor, who was on his way to Kabba for the matriculation ceremony of the second university established by his administration, Kogi State University, Kabba, received their thanks with great joy.

This school, once a one-block six-classroom structure in a deplorable state, has undergone a remarkable transformation under His Excellency Yahaya Bello, significantly improving the learning conditions for the students.

The positive impact of the governor’s commitment to education is evident in the upgraded facilities, providing students with an enhanced and conducive environment for learning across the state.

2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Kogi State Honours Fallen Heroes As Governor Yahaya Bello Pledges Continued Support for Security Services

Lokoja, Kogi State, January 15, 2024: In a solemn ceremony at the Cenotaph of the Unknown Soldier in Lokoja earlier today, Kogi State marked the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, honoring fallen heroes and reaffirming unwavering support for the Nigerian military and its sister security agencies.

In his speech, Governor Yahaya Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Mrs Funmilayo Arike Ayoade, emphasized the added significance of this year’s events being the first under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was only sworn-in last May.

Dr. Ayoade delivered the Governor’s heartfelt praise for the immense sacrifice by the fallen soldiers and assured of the state government’s commitment to their families and serving personnel. He also called on military personnel to recommit to their country and their Commander-in-Chief in line with their service pledge.

Highlights of the ceremony included inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by men of the Nigerian Army and Navy by the Governor’s representative. Dignitaries present include the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar, Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi, and the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Oladele Owoniyi who represented traditional rulers. They also laid wreaths at the Cenotaph in memory of those who have paid the ultimate price.

Also in attendance was Commodore Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser, Kogi State and other government officials, as well as members of the Armed Forces led by the Commander 12th Brigade, Nigeria Army, Lokoja, Brig-Gen. Hassan Dasuki and Commander NNS Lugard, Commodore Ugochukwu Ajulu. The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, and his men were also present as were members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), a contingent from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a cross-section of citizens from all walks of life who turned out to honour the fallen.

In his speech, Governor Bello acknowledged and commended the role of the Armed Forces and other security agencies in transforming Kogi State from a state with heavy security challenges when he took office in 2016 to one enjoying substantial peace and security as he prepares to bow out on 27th January, 2024.

Noting that this transformation is a testament to their courage and vigilance, the Governor expressed his undying gratitude. Governor Bello also announced a token donation of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000.00) for this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Launch.

Governor Bello also assured the security chiefs and the citizens of the state that his successor, Governor-Elect Usman Ododo Ahmed will be even more committed to maintaining the crucial bond of respect and cooperation between the government and the security forces than him.

He urged citizens to give their unwavering support to the incoming administration and to the security agencies as their part in building a nation worthy of the sacrifices made by fallen heroes. The ceremony concluded with the release of doves to symbolize the shared aspirations for enduring peace in Kogi State and Nigeria.

NIA Director-General Applauds Yahaya Bello’s Accomplishments

As the tenure of Yahaya Bello, CON continues to wind down, accolades for the 4th Executive Governor of Kogi State continue to pour in from around the country and beyond.

Recently, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, commended the outgoing Kogi State Governor for helping to improve his ‘State’s connectivity and accessibility as one of Nigeria’s main trade routes…’ noting that they are traceable to his outstanding achievements in infrastructure development, economic growth and other areas.

In a letter to Governor Bello, Abubakar highlighted key accomplishments, including:

– Significant infrastructural projects that have positioned Kogi as one of Nigeria’s main trade routes.
– Renovation of the Okene Reference Hospital, demonstrating commitment to enhancing public services.
– Establishment of the Omi Rice Farm, one of Nigeria’s largest, showcasing dedication to agricultural development.
– Overall transformation of the state’s economy, leaving it more prosperous and developed.

He further expressed his confidence that Governor Bello will continue to achieve success in his future endeavors.

It will be noted that the NIA Director-General’s agency oversees Nigeria’s national security from an overarching perspective and Governor Yahaya Bello’s Administration has continued to win plaudits for its great strides in security of lives and properties in Kogi State.

Harassment of NASS members: Kogi Government Arrests 6, calls for immediate prosecution

Following the harassment of some members of the National Assembly, who were part of the team that paid a courtesy visit on the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, at his office in Lokoja, six persons have been arrested on the order of the governor.

The Governor has subsequently banned unauthorised persons from accessing the government house while calling for immediate prosecution of the culprits.

The lawmakers from Kogi State, in the Senate and House of Representatives, had visited Governor Bello to congratulate him on the peaceful and credible conduct of the November 11 Governorship election and to pledge their unalloyed loyalty to him and the incoming administration.

Shortly after the fruitful discussion, the governor received with rude shock the news of the harassment of some of the lawmakers on their way out of the government house and swiftly ordered the arrest of the culprits.

He charged security agencies to investigate the issue thoroughly ensure the offenders face the full wrath of the law.

His directive to the heads of security agencies reads “Information just got to me as I left the office to the residence that one man called Suleiman and others embarrassed Sen Jubrin Echocho in Government
House. I’ve directed CSO to arrest all those involved in such stupid act and bring them to justice immediately. I will
NEVER condone act of hooliganism and indiscipline.
Thank you sir”.

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, charges the newly inaugurated chairpersons of the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state to take the issue of safety and security of their respective locality seriously and ensure that their people feel their positive impact, through adequate welfarism.

Addressing them on Tuesday after administering the oath of office and secrecy, Governor Bello emphasizes the paramount importance of prioritizing safety and security within their respective localities. He urges them to leave an indelible mark by exceeding the achievements of their predecessors, particularly in the crucial domain of ensuring security.

Governor Bello acknowledges the substantial workload awaiting them but expressed confidence that, with collaborative efforts and cooperation with stakeholders, they could succeed. He highlights that his outgoing administration and the previous chairmen have laid the groundwork for their smooth transition, advising them to carry every stakeholder along in their new responsibilities.

Emphasizing the imperative of serving the people diligently, Governor Bello cautions that their appointments were not for displaying affluence but required them to work and engage with diverse stakeholders. He stresses that Local Government administration under their leadership would not follow the usual routine.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bar. Deedat Salami-Ozigi, clarified that the event aimed to inaugurate those responsible for discharging security responsibilities in their respective localities. He explained that the appointment of caretaker chairpersons followed the expiration of the tenure of the former democratically elected chairmen of the 21 LGAs.

Commending Governor Bello’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and security, Ozigi highlighted the positive reception of recent steps taken to reposition the state.

One of the inaugurated caretaker chairmen, Comrade Adamu Abdullahi, representing Lokoja Local Government, expressed readiness to sustain the achievements of their predecessors. He outlined a focus on security, empowerment, and fostering socio-economic growth and development in the state capital.
